Horses—Have been brought forward in increased numbers, and a good demand prevails at prices of average entry at the Durham Yards on Friday and competition was keen. Heavy draughts sold at from £26 10S to £4O 12s 6d, mediums £24 to £3l 10s, light harness £7 17s 6d to £l6 10s, hacks £5 5s to £lB. A sulky realised £lO 15s, spring cart £l2 10s. Cattle.—At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were penned in usual numbers, and, sold at improved nates. Beef was in scarcely average quantities. Bkl/fing was extra keen, cattle advanf 'A% fully 30s per head on last week's quotations. Ox beef reßjywjd/up to 27e per lOOlbs, coviJ£g£o 235, steers sold at i<"M"£<s 10s to £ll 17s 6d, cows 5s to £9 ss. The quality of Jidflieef was good, although no heavy weights were yarded. Dairy cows sold at from £4 10s to £7 15s, empty cows £2 12s to £4 4s, calves £1 18s to £2 12s.

Sheep.—The Newmarket Yards were well filled on Tuesday, and prices advanced on last week's quotations. Wethers aild at from 16s 6d to £1 9b 6d, ewes 14s 9d to £1 6s, hoggets 12s 9d to 19s 6d. A truck of wethers from Cambridge averaged £1 9d, some other Waikato averages were £1 8s 9d, £1 8a 6d, £1 7s Od, ewea £1 6s, £1 5s 6d. Pigs.—Weaners sold at from 10s 6d to 16e, porkers 19s ftd to £2 3s, baconers £2 10s to £4 2s.

At Warkworth on Wednesday more than the advertised number of cattle came forward. Competition was keen and almost without exception everything was sold under the hammer. On,Saiturday wo held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of , Mr R. Wethcrakl, at Ardmore. There was a good attendance and satisfactory prices were realised. Dairy cows ! sold from £4 10s to £B, horses £ll 10s to £2O, dray £6, plough £5 ss, were some of the prices realised. On Monday we held a special sale of dairy cows at Papakura, when there was a good yarding. Cows close to calving realised from £5 5s fo £9 10s, backward ditto £4 10s to £7 10s, heifers £4 5s to £6 15s, bulls £4 10s to £B. Hides.—Market firm, extra stout ox 6Jd to 6jd, stout ditto 6d to 6Jd, medium ditto sgd to 5Jd, light ditto 4Jd to 4jd, cow best lines 4jjd, good 4<d, wet and sloppy BJd to 3|d, stags 3d to 3Jd, kip 3jfd to 4Jd, calfskins 5Jd to s|d ditto cut 3Jd to 4Jd. Sheepskins.—Market firm. Quotations are : Butchers' skins 4s 6d to 5s sd, country ditto 4s ftd to ss, small and damaged 2s 6d to 3s 3d. Tallow.—Market firmer. Good, in shipment casks, 17s to 18s, broken casks and packages 16s 6d to 17s 3d, seconds 13s to 15s 3d, rough fat Ld to ljd. Horse hair.—ls to Is 3d, cowtails Is Sd per doz, bones £5. Maize.—Very little to hand since last report and market bare at time of writing. Oats and Chaff.—No change to report. Potatoes.—Market has been moderately bare, but heavy shipments aro expected. Butter.—Supplies very restricted.— A good market awaiting anything of prime quality sent in at S-Jd to 9d. Cheese.—A fairly good enquiry. Prices unchanged.
