(Per Press Association l .) AUCKLAND, August 22. Leedham, Sweeney, and Thomas Bell, aged about 28, came up for sentence at the Supreme Court for assaulting and robbing a seaman at Clcvedon, and were sentenced to thrie years' haid labour. Thomas Hermain was sentenced to three years for assaulting a boardinghouse keeper with a table knife. Yoz Yugmovich was sentenced to five years for attempting an outrage on a Maori woman of 70 years of age. James Sutherland, who was formerly in business in a large way in Quecn-sereet, was sentenced to one year for breaches of tho Bankruptcy Act. Judge Edwards said that all accused's offences showed criminal intent, and were not the kind for which the probation, law was intended. This variety of crime was more serious than ordinary, and he would pass such a sentence as would let people understated they cannot do this sort of thing with impunity.
