ANI- A QUEER SISTER. FALMERSTON N., August 22.

A case presenting some extraordinary features came before the Magistrate's Court to-day. A girl sued a'settler, flamed Pearce for assault. Evidence in support of the girl was given by a friend, who was allegedly in' the house at the time, and things were looking dark for the defendant, when a married sister' of the girl alleged to have been assaulted walked voluntarily into the box and awore that the whole thing* was a "put-up job," and that the plaintiff had told her that she intended to bring the action to get £SO out of defendant. The witness added that she had given her sister away because her sister had given, her aW»y, The case was dismissed.
