His Excellency the Governor visit--3d the Chriskihurch Hospital and Christ's College yesterday, and in the evening was entertained by the citizens at a ['Onversa'/iione. lie leaves this morning for Dunedin. Mr A. Hooker, who has been honorary secretary of tiWo New Plymouth Ilorticultutal Society for the past three years, was last night presented by Mr J. C. George, the president, on Ibehalf of the members, with a silver hunt ing lever watch, in recognition of his sterling , work on behalf oi tho society. Mr Hooker suitably acknowledged the >reseiitation.
