SINKING OF A BARQUE.
I THREE MINUTE TRAGEDY. | (Received August 16, 10.38 p.m.; LONDON, August 10. Tn the terrible collision of Saturj "*ay nig'ht last, whom the barque Inverkip was sunk in three minutes by the ship Loch Carron, twenty-two seamen of the former vessel perished. Doth vessels' were under a press of ;anvas, and the night dark and rainy. The Loch Carron's three passengers were roused by the crash and the sound of shrieks. The boats were at office ordered out. The Inverkip was locked for a moment with the Loch Carron, and when the ships parted she foundered, head foremost. The Inverkip was an iron barque engaged in the Home carrying trade. She left Melbourne for Falmouth on March 25th with a Cargo of 21,3G3 bags of wheat. The Loch Carron is a four-masted barque of 2075 tons, commanded by Captain Clarke. She sailed for Sydney a few days' ago from Glasgow.
