THE NORTH LANARK SEAT. LONDON, August 11. The election for the vacant North Lunark seat resulted in the return of Provost Fandlay (Liberal), who polled f>(il9 votes, Mr Touch (Unionist) polled 4877 votes, and Mr Robertson (Labour) BUB 4. The Stand aid, commenting on the result of tho Lanark election, apd.,remarking t/hat Scotland stands', for free trade, recommends the 'aljondonment of Mr Chamlierlaln's policy, urging that while there are obvious objections to a conference of colonial Premiers to discuss the' quesbfon, ,whereon the Motherland is deeply divided, on authoritative inquiry in* to the fiscal syatem of State trad* is feasible.
