BESULT OF THE ELECTIONS. SYDNEY, August 8. The Herald says that really only two parties are left as the result of theelectionft. The Ministerialists Jiave practically disappeared, and labour forms the Opposition. As regards Mr Waddell, he is a reformer at heart, and the paper suggests that Mr Carruthers might, in the near future, be able to make the necessary advances to secure a majority of such proportions as to assure the political stability which is so essential .to place the State on a sound basis again. The Telegraph saysi the broad result of the elections is « d«i'l«d vicv toryfor the reform party, which is Bqual, if it idoes not exceed, the , Other two parties combined. Thomas Waddell, Premier, in returning thanks to his constituents, said he could not say anything ' about the situation till he returned ? to Sydney ; but he hoped the result of the election would bo that the Country would reap the benefit of ■".■', good legislation for the next three A years. Mr Haynes, Oppositionist, was defeated by a Ministerialist by ten votes, and it is likely a petition maybe lodged on the ground of irregularities at a polltng booth. [ The final returns give the Opposijbian 46 scats. Labour 25, Ministerialists 15, Independents 4. The Opposition expects to get the support of v jtwo, if not three, of tie Independents ... end may possibly have the support of one or two Ministerialists who are ppposed to caucas rule.
