Lepperton Notes.

■• (From our Correspondent.) Hump's the word in Lepperton just now. The active little germ has arrived in force and claimed its victims with a confidence and impartiality that would do honour to a stock inspector. He sent out his scouts some j two months ago, but now he seems to have entered into occupation. He | haa disabled the local post office; stafi, captured tho hood teacher at j the school, and .made a raid on the scholars. Doubtless the cold Antar- j tic snap that we have been enjoying; will stimulate him to further acliv-j ity, and tho only question is, who next ? It would lie interesting to know the exact sequence, season, and duration of the numerous epidemics that play havoc especially with our schools in Taranaki. At least once a year we can depend on measles or ecarletina or influenza or mumps or some other infectious disorder, while between times wo manage to jog on, with the good old reliable household coughs, colds and sore throats. The fact that the necessary loftn has been authorised for the construction of the new bridge to replace the oM "snake" should be welcome to settlers throughout this district. The old structure is .feeling the weight of its years, and it is full time its obituary was written. The season promises to be an early one for farms. Grass is coming away in favoured spots, and the willows are bursting into leaf. Hurrah, for spring.
