'•; DUNEDIN'S COMPLAINT. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 6. The annual meeting of the Chamber Of Commerce was held on Friday, When the Hon. T. Fergus, president, reviewed the events of the year 1 briefly, and local events at some length, devoting considerable attention to harbour board affairs. He also touched upon the School of Mines, and a resolution was passed protesting strongly against the proposal ,to remove from Dunedin the School of Mines, which has so long been in existence, and urging that there can be no real reason for such a course, as even if the school is removed to Auckland it will still be necessary for the Government to contribute towards its support there, and moreover if the various schools of mines in Auckland were abolished it would be possible without additional expense to establish an efficient School < of Mines in the City of Auckland. jt was urged that if Auckland had students by all means she should have a School of Mines ; but that was no reason-why other students should .be compelled to go to Auckland.
