CAULFIELD GRAND NATIONAL. (Received August 7, 9.21 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 6. The following ia the result of the Grand National Hurdles, run at Caulfield to-day :—Good Day 1, Kipling 2, Equity 3. Fifteen horses started. Betting : 4to 1 Elderslie, 5 to 1 Vellis, 50 to 1 Good Day. After going a couple of miles Zircon, Kipling, and Equity were in the van, and these led to the turn into the straight run home, where the former died out of the struggle and Good Day appeared on the scene. The latter was the first over the last hurdle, and after a desperate finish with Kipling secured the verdict by a neck. Vellis and Airly fell. Time, 6min 48Jsec. This is Bsec better than the previous record. The annual report of the South Australian Jockey Club shows that meetings held during the season resulted in a loss of £1790.
