MR NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION' REPORT. Cattle—At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday there was an average muster ol stock, the majority being dairy cattle. Only a few pens of young stun (mine forward, and these all sold at excellent prices. Mpringmg cows and heifers met Willi little inquiry, prices for those si.. .. eing on the low side. Calves made 34s to 38s, yearlings £2 4s to £2 10s, 15 to 18-moiittiN steers £3 Is to £3 14s, springing heifers £4 12s to £0 10s, heifers ill calf £3 15s to £3 lis, cows ill calf £4 Is to £4 10s, springing cows £5 to £5 13s, store cows £3 2s (id to £3 14s. On Monday 1 held a clearing sale at Kent Road on account oi Mr U. Keast, when in spite of the disgusting weather there was a fair attendance. The cows were a fairly good lot I jut some on the old side ; prices ranged from £5 to £8 for forward springers!, backward calvors £3 to £4 17s Gd, old cows £l. 10s to £- 17s (id. Sundries sold at ordinary rates. On Wednesday 1 held a sale at Waliea on account of Mrs M. A. Clarke. There . iwas a large .attendance, and overything sold well. The cows were a first-class lot, in good condition, and mostly early calvars. Springing cows close up made £7 to £ll sa, backward calves £4 10s to £ls I.os, heifer in call' £4 15s, half-draught filly £2(5, 4-year-old colt £23 IUS ; trap horse £lO, small pigs 5s to lis. Farm inplements and sundries made good prices. On Thursday at Mataitawa I held a sale on account of Mr C. T. Hall. There was a fair attendance, but not many buyers. The herd, which was probably one of the best in the district, was not all disposed of, prices being considerably in favour of buyers. Forward springers made £5 10a to £lO, heifers, close up, to £7 10s S Sfcorthorn bull £lO, draught florae £36, trap mare £l9. At Mr T. Parkiii's-. tWring sale on the Durham Road on Tuesday there was &/good attendance. The cows were a good lot, and made from £4 15s to £lO 7s 6d, the average being £7 12s 6d, springing heifers £4 12s 6d to £5 5s ; bull £4 ss, -bay gelding £23 t trap £l9, and sundries at fair, rates. RUCKLAND AND SON S REPORT. (Special to News.) AUCKLAND, August 5. Horses.—Medium draughts £lB 10s and £36 ss, aged £lO and £2B, good hacks and harness £l(3 2s 6d and £23 7s 6d, light and ordiuan £5 5s and £ls 10s. At Remuera dairy cows sold up to £8 12a 6d, dry do. £3 to £•] 10s. Beef, ; in average supply, sold well throughout, steers averaging 25s per 1001b, and cow to 235. Sheep were in usual numbers, wethers making 14s to 25s 6d, ewes 12s: to 20s, hoggets 9s to 16s 3d. Pigs were in sihort supply. Porkers 25s to 355, baconers up to 575.

Horses.—At the Durham yards on Friday quite the average number of horses were yarded, and anything] of a good class quitted. Heavy draughts were scarce and wanted, and there is also an inquiry for good, reliable buggy horses. Medium and spring cart horses sold from £23 to £26. The steeplechaser "Nor'-wcst" was
submitted, and passed in under the hammer, but has silica ibeen sold privately. Small horses and weeds are practically unsaleable. On Monday we held a special sale of stallions, etc., at tlio Durham yards on account of Messrs W. Paterson and 00. and others, when there was a large attendance, but bidding was anything but spirited. The horses submitted were of good stamp and quality, but few were sold under the hammer. The Clydesdale, stallion iioyad Simon," by "Sir Simon Top* sy," changed hands at 100 guineas, his new owner .being Mr W. J. Hall, lhameis. Brood mures made up to £35, and a bay gelding by "Clydesdale Willie" reached £46 10s. A lew coaching sorts were quitted at £(5 to £22, and a good rnnnv sales effected privately. Cattle.— At the Xewmarket yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers and sold at late rates.
