Exchange of Reserves.
A spcciuJ meeting of the Borough Council was held last night to consider the racecourse reserves exchange proposals in order to allow of the Agricultural Society securing a ground on which to hold its annual shows. There were present : Crs Brooking (Deputy-Mayor) presiding, Ahier, ilrowne, Coll.s, Cliff, Medley, Wilson, and Wood. The Chairman moved that tho council insist on the whole of the trustees of the racecourse und other sports reserves being appointed by tile council and that subject to this condition and to St. Germain's .Square being made a borough endowment the draft bill submitted by tltc deputation bo approved and Mr SamJel authorised to tuke the necessary steps to have it passed, and tnat no expense thereon be incurred by the council. This motion lapsed for want of a seconder. Cr. Wood moved and Cr. Browne seconded-That the council insist that the councillors lor the time being of the borough lie trustees of the racecourse reserve, and provided that [en and a half acres only are given m exchange and subject to these conditions being incorporated in the bill <ind to Si.
