CAPTAIN AND SEVEN OF CREW SAVEUj PERILS ON SEA AND LAND. THREE BOATS AND SEVENTEEN MEN STILL MISSING. (Received August 2, 0.58 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 1. Advices have beta received from New Guinea of the wreck of the British ship Argburth, bound from Newj castie (N.S.W.) to Java withacarI go of 2700 tons of coal. 'ili<j vessel struck an unknown reef off Rock island, becoming a total wreck, and the crew took, to the boats. One boat, containing Captain Reid, and seven of the crew, landed in German New Guinea. Three boats, with seventeen of the crew are missing. The oriiciala of German New Guinea have sent two Government vessels, Captain Reid accompanying them, to search for the wail's. (Received August 2, 1.14 a.m.) BRISBANE, August 1. Excepting Captain lteid, all the members of the captain's boat came on here. The Argburth met a series of heavy south-east, gales, and in attempting to run between New Irffland and New Britain she struck on a reef off Rock Island. ,/.
