RUSSIAN SENSATION.
THE MURDER OF M. DE PLEHVE. ST. PETERSBURG, July 29. do Plehve's assassin, when arrested, said, " I have performed an act af jusedce. If the Government perseveres in the same policy, de Plehve's successor will share the same fate." An official statement states that the assiassin threw one bomb, and that nine passers-by were slightlj' inlnred. Captain Zweziniski, of the Guard; was driving 'behind; and was severely injured. The assassin received a few wounds, bilt they are not dangerous. Eight persons were arrested, but six were released. NO WORD OP REGRET. LONDON, July 29. German, Austrian, and French newspapers contain no word of regret. Some declare that M. de Plehve's fate is not surprising, and was deserved. ■ ! M, <ie Plehve's last a-ihnlnietrative acts were the suppression of four Hebrew newspapers in St, Pettrsburg, throwing 300 Jews out of work, and the expulsion of all unemployed Jews from St. Petersburg. It is believed he is an accomplice of M. de Pldhve's murderer, and that he was 'intended to make a second attempt ill case tte first had failed. After the explosion ho hired a-boat and* threw &"heavy object in an adI joining canal. His actions excited trie suspicion of the -boatman, .who caused his arrest. Divers have since recovered a bomb from the spot» MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY,, ~ St. PETERSBURG, July 30. King Edward sent the Czar a message of sympathy in M. de Plehve's murder. President Loubet of France, the King of Italy, and Secretary John Hay (U.S.A.) also telegraphed- similarly.
