MR NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday small pigs sold at 4s 6d to ss, horses £.7 10s to £B. At the 1 Mart fowls made Is 3d to Is 9d, ducks 2s to 3s 6d, pure-bred fowls 2s to 3s 6d, turkeys 7s 3d, onions Id, bacon od. Furniture and sundries made low prices. Cattle—At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday there was a small yarding but a good attendance. Bidding was brisk for all young cattle, and nearly everything sold at good prices. Yearlings made 39s to 465, 18 months steers £2 19s to £3 15s, heifers in calf £4 to £4 10s, springers £4 18s to £7 12s 6d, store cows £3 12s 6d to £4 ss.
At Stony River on Wednesday I had a good sale, all young cattle being keenly competed for, and selling at good prices. Yearlings made £2 lis to £3 ss, springing heifers £3 19s to £5 6s, store cows £2 15s to £3 13s, calves 22s to 375.
At various clearing Bales during the week prices for cows have been well maintained, early calvers making from £6 to £9 2s 6d, late do. £1 to £6 ss, heifers £3 to £6 ss.
At Kapuni on Thursday, in conJunction with Messrs Nolan, Tonks, and Co., I held a clearing sale on account of Mr W. J. Dew, there was a large attendance and good bidding. The cows were a very nice lot of Holsteins in good condition. Messrs Vickers and Stevens report that there was a good muster of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday, and competition wa9 good for young cattle. A nice line 1 of yearlings from Tarata topped the market, making £2 lis 6d to £2 17s Calves to yearlings made from £1 8s to £2 3s, store cows £1 10s to £3 9s, spring oalvers £3 19s to £5, springers £4 5s to £6. At Mr Hodgeman's salt on the Junction Road on Monday cows made from £3 15s to £7 17s 6d, .. dray £l2, jbay gelding £3O. At Mr E. J. Morgan's sale on the Kaimata Road .on Tuesday there was a good attendance, and bidding was I>risk. A clearing sale by Gorton and Son, of the well-known Woodendean flock of Romney Marsh sheep was held yesterday, and was the most successful sale ever held in the district. The prices realised made a record for the colony. Stud ewes made from 2 to 8J guineas ; stud rams from 2J to |9j guineas. The average over the flock of over 3000 sheep was 33s (id. Horses.—At the Durham yards on Friday horses were brought forward in full numbers, but owing no doubt to the partial holiday bidding was not so animated as at the previous week's sale. Heavy draughts sold at from £3l to £37 15s, medium do. £22 to £29 10s, light harness horses £lO 10s to £lB 15s, hacks £7 10s to £l6 10s. Two spring carts made £lO 10s and £l3 respectively. Cattle.—At the Newmarket yards on Tuesday there was the usual yarding of dairy and store stock, which sold at late rales. Beet was scarcely in average supply and showed improvement in prices, ox selling up to 255, and cow at 12s to 21s per lOOlbs. No heavy weights were yarded. We quote fat steers from £0 10s to £lO 12s (id, fat cows £4 5s to £3, dairy cows £5 5s to £8 10s. empty do. £2 10s to £4 7s, calves £1 lis to £2 14s.
Sheep.—The Newmarket yards were well filled on Tuesday, and sheep of all descriptions met a ready sale at advancLd rates. We quote fat wethers from 13s 6d to 24s 9d, fat ewes lfs 9d to 20s 3d, hoggets 8s (id to 15s 9d.
Pigs.—Porkers sold froiu.£l 13s to £3 2s, weaners 5s 6d to 335. At Pukekohe on Wednesday we had a good yarding of all classes of stock, moro especially dairy cows. These sold from £4 10s to £8 10s, empty do. £2 15s to £4 (is, calves £1 lis to £2 12s, grown 'steers £5 5s to £6 10s, beef at Newmarket rates.
