Buried By an Earthfall.
(Per Tress Association.) CHIUSTOHURCII, July 120. James Drown, 158, employed on the co-operative railway works on the Waipara-Cheviot lino, had the base of his skull fractured to-day by a fall of earth. He now lies in the Christchurch hospital in a dangerous condition. on the hoard to urge that another be sought, and the board agreed to seek for one. A piece of land wns found available much nearer the present hospital and unobjectionable iib regards depreciation of neighbouring properties, and probably the committee that has the matter in hand will negotiate for this. The board's solicitors drew attention to clause 88 of tho Charitable Institutions. Act, which provides that the Goverrior-ln-Council should set astide a quarter of a million acres of Crown lands as endowments for hospitals and charltablo institutions, and they suggested that this should be looked into as the clause has never boon repealed.
