The Premier has received a cable from Adelaide ns follows :—"Kindly convey to the captain of the New Zealand team the hearty congratulations of the Commonwealth Council of the Australian Rifle Association upon their success in winning the Kolapore Cup.—Alexander Cornish, secretary." The Rajah of Kolapore's Imperial 'Challenge Cup is one of the most .important of the short range teams matches hold at Bisley. The cup, which, by the way, consists of two handsome vases, was presented to the National Rifle Association by the late Rajah of Kolapore in 1871, . with the idea of fostering a "shoot- * fog brotherhood" between the Mother Country, her colonies, and India. . In order to still further induce the colonics and India to send teams jo compete in this cup, the National Bifle Association added a substantial money prize of £BO which goes to , the highest 'team, exclusive of the Mother Country team, and a special commemorative silver bowl to the captain, adjutant, and each member of the winning team. New Zealand competed for the cup three times toria won the cup in 1897, but lost it to Guernsey in 1898. The 1897 competition was the keenest ever held;?, the Victorians beating New Zealand by the narrow majoritv of three points. In 1902 the Commonwealth team again secured the cup, aria"" in 1903 their victory was repeated, under the captaincy of the popular Colonel Oldershaw. In 1902 the New Zealanders, although only ,four.:'pomts behind their 1897 score, fcould' only get seventh place, their Individual scores lying:—G. Loveday 98, W. Loveday 96, W. S. King 96, .W\ H. Ballinger 92, J. G. Wilson 91, Okey 90, Winsdade 88. The conditions are :—Teums of eight ~ men, seven shots at 200, 300, and 60ft' yards. Since the instituuion of the ctip in 1871 the Mother Country team has won 23 tines, Canada six . times, Australia twice, Victoria once Guernsey once.
