Holmes (Westland) Tlie ATTORNEY-GENERAL said he was not prepared at present to say what the Government would do in regard to amending the Rating on Unimproved Value Act so as to permit Uic striking of hospital and charitablo aid rates on the unimproved value where that system of rating was not in force. The Government would await the report of the Municipal Conference before dealing with the question of procedure in connection with preparing and authenticating supplementary district electors' lists*
DRIED MILK. On the motion of Hon. T. Kelly (Taianuki) the Government was requested to direct that a complete analysis be made of dried milk manufactured under the now patent process, with a view of ascertaining whether the drying process results in a food suitable as a substitute for mother's milk for Infants under twelve months. FIRST READINGS. The Secret Conitnisaions Prevention Bill (Bolt) was read a first time. LETTER OF THANKS. A letter of thanks from Mrs o'Meara, widow of the late M.H.R. for I'ahlatua, for the condolence of the Council, was ordered to be recorded in the journals. I BANK OF NEW ZEALAND. ' The Bank of New Zealand Bill passod all its stages, and the Council I adjourned' at 3.25 p.m. until the 27th inst.
