Recreation Ground.
A meeting of the Recreation Grounds Board was held on Tuesdav evening. Present : Messrs 0. \V. (!ovett (chairman), \Y. L. Newman, P. P. Corkill, and Crs. Carter and W. A. Collis (Borough Council representatives). The Taranaki Kugb.y Union wrote asking tho Board to forgo its usual 25 per cent, ol' the gate money for the Britain v. Taranaki match and Wairarapa v. Taranaki match, owing to the exceptionally heavy ex- • I Jense were under in brin^-ine- | these loams. i It was resolved that the action of the chairman in arranging wilh the. | Union for the sum of £25 for the j two matches bo confirmed. I The secretary stated that the Taraj noki Hugb.v Union hud hooked the- ! grounds for the. 17th of .August for the English match, and about the ; 28th of .July for the Wuirarupn | match. j It was resolvid t'hat the question, of holding a fete on the ilth of Novomfbpr next in aid of the Hoard's funds stand over until next meeting. It was decided that in future liio Hoard will meet monthly on the first Wednesday in the monthMr T. O. Kelsey, I'MI.A.N.Z., was appointed auditor to -the Hoard. The Board's linuncial year will close on the 31st March each year instead of 31st December, and that, tile annual balance-sheet, lie published. It was resolved that the Board as a body visit tile grounds on Thursday, July 7th, with a view of seeing what further improvements can' be made. Cr. Collis outlined a scheme for raising and enlarging the sports ground, but no action was taken. The matter will lie brought forward later on. Accounts were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
