He would like to see an invitation given to Mr Chamberlain as well as to Lord Roberts to visit the colony. The proposal to set up a High Commissioner was a move in the right direction. The High Conunißwoiiers would no doubt form the nucleus oi a Federal Board which would ultimately have a vo-ice in the (liuis- 1 oi Commons in mailers affecting the colonics. Hon. W. HUE I lAN (Auckland) would support the -appointment of a High Commissioner if it tiid not mean keeping ail Agent-General as well. He strenuously opposed tlx* freehold, which would mean the handing over of properties' to the mon-ey-lenders.
