CLEMENT L, WHAGGE. Lectures are not supposed to appeal to "the million," but judging by the large and enthusiastic audiences that have supported Mr Clement Wrag|4(e during his successful tour of the south, his lectures must bu an exception. Although lecturing on seiontilii: subjects, Mi Wrngg'c has proved himself to bo an entertainer of no moan order. Ho is instructive, but his original humour constitutes tho greutvst charm of his lectures. It is marvellous how lie bulfblos over with humour in the midst of what is usually a "dry subject." The lectures aro made doubly interesting by the addition of a largo number of slides displayed by thu aid of a very powerful lantern, including the linest astronomical pictures ever exhioited this side of the lino—views depicting tho solar system of the earth, Jupiter, Neptune, Mercury, Venus, Iranus, and tho two asteroids. So clear arc these pictures of the planets, that the lecturer asks : Can wo claim that this tiny earth is tho only planet inhabited? When one thought of the wonderful discoveries of recent years—the X-rays, the wireless telegraphy, tho ether—how duro we say that in future years it would not be possible to communicate with Venus or Mercury? Air Wraggn is making a hurried lour through thin country, and the residents of this district are extremely fortunate in having an opportunity of hearing this world-famed lecturer. Thoro is no doubt ho will lx> as well supported hero as in the other towns visited.
