A Fire Inquiry.

(Per Press Association.) NAPIER, June 13. A magisterial inquiry has opened concerning a fire at Petane, when a four-roomed house owned by -Mrs Villers, and occupied by I', j. Connolly, was destroyed. The furniture was insured in the Queensland offico for £75, and a declaration mado that it was worth £l5B. Connolly, under examination, did not appear to remember anything about the lire. Both he an-d Iris wife denied that furniture was sent into town before tho fire. The inquiry was adjourned. The magistrate remarked that the statements were very contradictory and the most extraordinary he had listened to.
