ARRESTING ARMENIAN ATROCITIES. CONSTANTINOPLE, June 10. Yielding to remonstrances by the British Ambassador at Constantinople the Forte has promised to take etep9 to end the shedding of (blood in Armenia and to grant an amnesty to the rebels. TURCO-GREEK lECIDENT AT SMYRNA, A serious incident; has occurred at Smyrna. M. Delyannis, Secretary of the Greek Consulate, has taken certain action to secure the re-open-ing of certain Greek shops which had boen closed on account of nun-pay-ment of taxes by their proprietors. This led to a sanguinary conflict with a forco of Turkish troops. M. Delyannis waa slightly Injured in the encounter, and thereupon ho fired at the soldiers. He and two kavasses of tho Greek Consulate were arrested and were only released on the intervention of the French Consul. An official communication issued at Athens subsequently stated that the secretary of the Consulate, finding it necessary to defend himself when a Turkish patrol intervened, fired several shots. The Greek ConsulGeneral, on proceeding to the office of the Ottoman Governor, found the secretary bound and bleeding. The secretary was authorised to accompany the consul, but the soldiers prevented the departure of the two kavasses, and unharnessed the horses of the consul's carriage. The two kavasses were released five days later on the intervention of the French Consul. The communication added that the Greek fleet was leaving to engage in Manoeuvres.
