ALIEN IMMIGRATION.
PASSAGE RATES TO AMERICA. (Received Juno 9, 10.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 9. The J. Pierpont Morgan combine has adopted a £3 steerage rate to America. Of the Red Star liner Kroonland's 1234 passengers carried at the £2 rate 020 have been detained at New York on suspicion of Weing "undesirables."" THE SUBJECT BEFORE THE COMMONS. (Received June 10, 0.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 9. In the House of Commons, during the discussion on the Aliens' Exclusion Bill, Sir Henry Campiajll-Ban-nerman and other Liberals urged that the bill introduced an elaborate system to exclude a certain class of foreigners, involving a departure irom the country's ordinary practice and traditions. The measure ought to be discussed in committee of the whole House. The Government's reply was that the Mil was really a non-contentious one, brought in at the Cabinet's instance. The bill was referred to the grand committee of law, by a majority of ninety votes. Mr Balfour confessed) that the step taken would prevent any unnecessary obstruction.
