METHODIST CONFERENCE. MELHOI UXE, June 8. Tho Methodist CYnfmnce decided to make an nppi.l through Australia ftfr funds for u church in the Federal capital. The following exchanges were (Wlltd :—liev. Trior (New Zealand) to Victoria ; Kev. Hudson (Queensland) to New Zealand. (Received June 8, 11.52 p.m.) MELHOI: UXE, June 8. Rev. Williams niovwl that the conference affirms that in its judgment the proposed union of Methodist and Presbyterian Churches is eminently desirable. This was unanimously carried after the words "provided a satisfactory and practicul Irasis can be found" had been added. A recommendation for the appointment of a committee to deal with the question was also carried, and also a motion in favour of the New Zealand conference' appointing a committee for the same object.
