In accepting the resignation tho board accorded a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Ford for hi* services during the long period of years ho had held tho position. . The secretary of the No. 2 Axe' men's Association wrote asking 4f the board would grant the us© of the grounds for the association's twjl f> matches on a Thursday in tho month , of August.—Tho board decided 10 grant tho use of the grounds on-ft/ * Thursday in August on tho uaStjr terms. A letter was received from Mr tV. C. IConsington, commissioned surveyor for Crown Colonies, complaining • that on April 27th (? 28th) 'gate money was demanded from country settlers and the sailors from H.M;.S. I'syche for entering the grounds. The board having Inquired fully into tlie • matter, it was resolved that Mr W. C. Kensington be informed that on ,/ the date in question the Tukapa/ Football Club was authorised by tho board to make the uxual charge at the gates for admittanee during the match which was being, but that the club to its gatekeej&r thav sdttmen and marines were to pass irtf, and the board is satisfied that those instructions were carried out. ' The secretary roported that Mr jv Roberts, owner of section 1005, abutting on the grounds, had agreed to> pay 10s per annum to maintain « privato entrance from his property to the grounds. An application from the custodian of tho Old People's Home for a gup? ply of native shrubs was left in the chairman's hands. A donation of £2 2s from the vol-, untcors, who recently camped in t)w' grounds, was received with thanks. Mr J. Sanderson, architect, v/a# thanked for gratuitously arranging and supervising the painting contract. The Taranaki Acclimatisation Society forwarded a sum of £lO for tho services rendered by ihe board's stall in feeding and othorwise attending to the fish. The board decided that in future, when leave' was given to plar odd matches in the grounds, payment lie made in advanco, owing to difflta&y being experienced in getting payoMfct *" after some such events. It was decided to do some planting during tho coming winter on tiie frontage bordering on the Carrlngton Road, with the object of forming a playground or lawn in the paddock recently occupied by Mr West.
