It is announced from Melbourne that Sir George Turner (lata Federal Treasurer) will not join any coalition Ministry. He has been In indifferent health for some time anil has no desire for oflice. The funeral of the late Dr Hi slop at Dunedin yesterday was largely attended by lending cXizens, representatives of local bodies, and a very large number of teachers. Deceased's three sons (Hon. T. VV. Ilislop, and Messrs Walter ami John Ilislop) were the chief mourners. A large number of old identities from towiand country attended.
