FOOTBALL.
On Thursday Clifton seniors forfeited to Inglewood. The Waitara Mail reports the Clifton v. Star juniors mutch as under : —The-game played in Waitara was not brilliant, but it was at the same time a most "willing" go. Neither side scored, and otherwise honours were about even, Clifton having the best of the first spell and Stars the best of the second. It should be said, however. Star lost a nmn early in the game through an accident—kick on the head—and they were further deprived of assistance when half tho seeond spell was through, a man being ordered off for tripping his opponent. Just before the game ended, the Clifton fullback had to retire owing to an injuiy to liis leg. The local team shaped very well, Haskell, Goer, Aubrey, Jlorlensen, Luxton and Sampson being, particularly valuable members. The forwards have something to learn in the way of obtaining tho ball in tile scrums, and tho 'backs should pay more attention i r marking an opponent, but speaking the team plays botte- ally bail than tho seniors, v foot-
