Last night's cables from London report the death of Mr Herbert Chamberlain, younger brother of the late Secretary of State for the Colonies. At the meeting yesterday of tho Board of School Commissioners, a restOution was passed appreciative of the services of Mr James Mackenzie Commissioner of Crown Lands, who hasl been a member of the-board, but is now being transferred to Auckland. The appointment of the following members of the Egmont National Park Board has been approved by the Government Messrs F. J.
