IMPERIAL SENTIMENTS.
THEIR INCULCATION IN THE. RISING GENERATION. LONDON, May 18. Delegates from the Headmasters' Conference conferred yesterday with representatives of tho League of Empire. Lord Strathcona (High Commissioner for Canada) presided, and Sin Charles Lyell seconded a motion advocating co-operation, with the idea of training the young throughout the Empire in sentiments and convictions of sympathy, kinship and common loyalty. Others advocated a common study of history and the foundation of historical scholarships. LORD RANFURLY'S OPINION. AUCKLAND, May 19. The scheme of education in the Empire, mentioned in the cable message from London, is practically identical with one propounded by Lord Ranfurlybut his Excellency states that bis is quite independent of the English proposal. He has had the idea for the past four years, but took no steps to develop it into its present form till a short time ago. His Excellency is highly pleased that the English movement follows so soon on our own, even though on independent lines, as he hoped his schenn: would have an Empire-wide currency. He believes it has hit the proper moment for a successful introduction.
