Many of the trees, which have been inspected by Mr Charles Clayton, Government Surveyor and exsawmill proprietor, are by girth from 9 to 15 feet, and in length from 14 to HO feet. The bush is easy of access and to work, and should prove a most remunerative investment for any capitalist or company. Mr Charles Clayton says " There are plenty of places throughout New Zealand where mills are placed with nothing like the timber and prospects that the bush in question possesses, and tho great facilities and advantages for ; working it." The object should be first to deal with the puriri, as the Government Railway Department! Offer an immediate market for sleepers in any quantity. This bush has been sought after for the last 25 years, but tho difficulty in dealing with the natives has hitherto been insuperable. The N.Z.
