THE Shooting Season for Native Game (excepting native pigeon, kaka, pukcko, wio. or blue duck, tui, huia, white lveron, and crested grebe) and Imported Game in the district, consisting of the Counties of Taranaki, Clifton, and Egmont (excepting the Mount Egmont Forest Reserve, Kaitake Ranges, being sections 168 and 170, in the Oakura District, and Paraninihi or White Cliffs Reservation) will commence on the Ist May and end on 81st July, both days inclusive. In the Mount Egmont Forest Reserve, being the area within the circumference of a circle having a radius of six miles from the summit of Mount Egmont, the shooting of Native and Imported Game is strictly prohibited at all times. To Sawmillers and Capitalists. SPLENDTD HUSH FOR SALE. APPLICATIONS are invited for the right to cut timber on 11,000 acres ot bush in the North Island. The timber, which can be immediately utilised, ispuriri, within two miles of the sea coast, and the best that can be obtained in the col-* ony. Many of the trees, which have been inspected by Mr Charles Clayton, (Jovernment Surveyor and exsawmill proprietor, are by girth from 9 to 15 feet, and in length frjom ]4 to lio feet. The bush is easy of access tji»d tp wopk, and should prove a most remunerative investment for any capitalist or company. Mr Charles Clayton says " There are plenty .of places throughout New Zealand where mills are placed with nothing like the timber and prospects that the bush in question possesses, and the great facilities and advantages for working it." The object should bp first to deal with the puriri, as the (lovernment Railway Department offer an immediate market for sleepers in any quantity. This bush has been sought after for the last 25 years, but the difficulty in dealing with the natives lias hitherto been insuperable. The N.Z.
