BUBNSIDE STOCK MARKET. (I'er Presb Association.) DIiNEDIV, May Jl. Fat cattle.—l6B bead were yarded, the greater portion only medium to good, and this class suffered a drop of about 10s per head. Prime heavy bullocks, on the other hand, sold fully up to last week's rates. Extra heavy £ll to £l2 2s 6d, good £9 15s to £lO 10s, medium £6 10s to £7 10s, light and medium £4 to £5 10s. Fat sheep.—l 722 were penned. The sale opened at slightly above last week's rates, <iut as it progressed prices came back to about the sanio level. Extra prime wethers 23s 6d to 24s 3d, good 20s to 225, medium 18s to 19s 6d, others 16s to 17s 9d, extra prime ewes 24s to 255, good 19s to 21s, medium 17s to 19s 3d, others 13s to 16s.
Lambs.—3l6 were penned, but despite the small number prices receded Is per'head, no export buyers operating. Best 15s to 16s 6d, good 13s to 14s 6d, others 9s 9d to 12s 6d.
I Pigs.—l 26 were yarded. Porkers and baconers realised late rates, but others were dull of sale. Suckersi 6s to 10s 6d, slips lis to 15s 6d,stores 17s to 225, porkers 27s 6d to 225, baconers 40s to 57a 6d NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO. AUCKLAND, May 11. Horses.—At the Durham yards on Friday last we had an average muster of horses entered. Heavy draughts sold at from £2B to £42, medium do. £2l 10s to £33, light harness £6 10s to £2O 3s, hacks £5 15s to £3 17s 6d. Cattle.—At the" Newmarket yards on Tuesday there was an average muster of dairy -and store stock, and a full supply of beef. Dairy cows sold from £4 15s to £8 ss, empty do. £2 17s to £4 9s, calves £1 13s to £2 lis. Ox beef, of which there was some excellent quality yarded, sold to 23s per 1001b, cow 19s to 225. Fat steers realised from £6 10s to £ll 7s 6d, fat cows £4 10s to £7 12s 6d. A draft ox 31 steers from Messrs Reed Brothers, Waerenga, averaged £lO 7s 3d. Sheep.—The Newmarkets were well filled on Tuesday, and sheep of all descriptions met a ready sale. We quote wethers from 12s 9d to 22s 3d, ewes 10s 9d to 17s 9d. Lambs, yarded in fulf numbers, sold from 7s Gd to 15s 6d. Pigs.—Pigs were yarded in average numbers. Porkers sold from 13s 6d to £2 Is, weaners 8s Gd to 17s 9d. On Wednesday at Papakura there was a good average muster of stock ot all descriptions, and competition was good throughout, prices being in favour of the vendor. Dairy cows sold at from £4 10s to £8 15s, empty do. £2 17s to £4 Bs, calves £1 15s to £2 Bs, heifers forward in calf £4 5s to £5 ss. The advertised grown steers sold from £5 12s 6d to £7 Bs.
We submitted an average catalogue of hides and skins on Tuesday. Hides same as last week. We quote : Prime ox, none offering, extra stout do. 7d to 7Jd, stout do. 6}d to 6|d, medium do. 5Jd to 6d, light do. 4}d to s|d. Cow, best 1 ines 4Jd, good Hi to 4}d, stags 2}d to 3Jd, calfskins 5d to 5Jd, cut 3Jd to 3Jd, kip 4d to 4Jd. Sheepskins.—Market easier. Best butchers' skins 2s 8d to 3s 4d, best country do. 2s 5d to 3s, small and damaged Is to Is 9d. Tallow.—Market easier. Broken casks and packages 16s 3d to 20s, rough fat 1 Jd. Bones £O. Cowtails Is 5d per doz Horse hair Is Id to Is 2}d. Wool. —Crossbred 5Jd to6sd, cotts 4Jd to 4fd, lambs 5Jd to 6jd, pieces 2id 3jd, locks 2d to 3id. Maize.—Market is again: a shade firmer, and prime is selling at 2s 2d on wharf. Oats.—Dull of sale, best lines being Is lOd on wharf. Chaff.—Firm at £4 10s on wharf. Potatoes.—Market overstocked with both Southern and local. Sales have been made at £2 15s on wharf for former. Butter.—Not. quite so plentiful. Good lines always in demand from 7d to BJd. A large proportion of farmers' sent in is of very mediocre quality and is hard to quit. Cheese.—ln better demand. Prices remain about the same. Stocks fairly heavy in colony. PURCHASE OF MUTTON. GISBORNE, May 12. At the stock sale 9it was announced that a purchaser, on behalf of Nelson Bros, was buying at 3 5-7 d per lb for mutton, equal to ' 18s ljd for 601b sheep. —— DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. DUNEDIN, May 11. Wheat.—There is little alteration in the market. Prime milling velvet is offering freely, but large lines are not readily placed at ruling rates. Prime Tuscan and red chaff are scarce. Fowl wheat is in demand for coastal shipment. Prime milling 2s lOd to 3s. medium (nominally) 2s 3d to 2s 9d, good whole fowl wheat 2s 3d to 2s 4d, broken and damaged 2s to 2s 2d (sacks extra). Oats—Prime milling Sutherl : ands and "A" grade are saleable, but for "I!" grade and discoloured there is practically no inquiry, and business doing is very restricted. Prime milling Is 4jd to Is ad, good to best feed Is 3d to Is 4d, inferior to medium lOd to Is 2d (sacks extra). '
LONDON MARKET CAIiLE. LONDON, May 11. Copper—Spot and three months, 7s 6d higher, at £SB per ton. Tin.—Spot, £1 7s (id lower, at j £125 2s 6d per ton, three months, I £1 5s lower, at £124 per ton. At the tallow sales 1640 casks offered and 19.1 sold. Mutton—Fine 275, medium 21s fid. Beef—Fine 26s 6d, medium 23s 9d. Wool.—Sales to-day were animated, all classes hardening. The cli|)S sold included " Howard" 9jd, " Orcti" 9jd. BreadstufTs.—Thi/ American visible supply of wheat is estimated at 43,027,000 bushels. HOMEBI'SH SALES.
