Marton Band Contest.
(Fer Press Association.) MARTON, May 12. The Brass Band Contest opened to-day, when visiting bands were accorded a hearty reception, addresses of A'elcomc being given by the Mayor and Colonel l'itt. Tile results so far are
Waltz.—Keilding, 50 points, first Haweru, 30, second ; Marton, 48, third.
Tromboue Solo.—McConnell, Hawera, 36, first ; Buderas, .Marton, 81, second ; Crotier, Marton, 3,>, third.
8.8. Flat Bass.—Philps, Keilding, 35, first; H. Cud by, Hawera, 33 ; second.
E. Flat Bass.—L. TuntiyclliTc,Blenheim, 33, first; J. McGregor, Marton, 32, second ; E.Birch, Hawer.i 30, third.
Military Marching C'oiiij.el'lion - Marton, 135 points, first ; Hawera, 133, second ; Feilding, 130, third : Blenheim, 122, fourth.
E. Flat Horn.—Cross, l'eilding first : Haybittle, Feildi.ig, set.mil ; Taylor, Hawera, third.
At a meeting of the Association it was decided that the next contest lie hew at Feilding.
