A Curious Fatality.
DHOWNEI) IN SIX INCHES OF WATER, (Per Press Association.) . , , NAPIER, May 1. A fatality of ft very peculiar nature occurred early this morning. A young man named John Morten sen, about. 19 years of ago, u. native at Hairoa, wont duck-shooting on the nhare-o-Moraonui reserve, known oi tho swamp, his companions being his brother Henry and his brother-in-law, a man named Ernest James. he two Mortensens wore in a duck nut together, and about 8 a.m a man named who had just shot a swan, told the Mortensens U ey,ould have it if they liked to go for it. Henry left the hut in pursuit of the swan, and returning very shortly after found his brother m about six Inches of water, and quite dead. As the deceased was subject to fits, it is supposed he fell into the water in a lit and was drowned. There were no marks of any kind about the body.
