ARREST OF THE SUPPOSED ■ MURDERER. Ellis, the man who is wanted in connection with the tragedy at Tft. Awaite, was arrested <m Urenui ajjj Suturday by 'to -frffilrfi I'rotably-he will IwTJoujjSit before the Court this morning and remanded to the Wairarapa.
We understand that the arrest was made at 6,30 on Saturday evening by Constable Beattie. The accused man was employed digging potatoes on a farm at lirenui, ll e denies that he is Ellis, whom he he knows well. A rifle cartridge was found upon him.
The tragedy, in connection With which tho arrest has facon mode, took plase at Martiniborough at the ond of February, the victim twfcnx a man named Collinson, a remittance man of good connections at Home. In company with a man named Ross deceased was scrub cutting, but Just before the affair happened they had gone, over to a burnt clearing l Collinson sat down while Rods went over a creek to cut a polo, a coudlb oi minutes afterwards Ross heard shot and turning saw Collinson tell over and roll down the bank He was shot through the hearT R oM endeavoured to And out who fired the shot and lost his way, go that it was tnot till next morning that the body was found.
