Friendly Societies.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 21. The Friendly Societies conference, whic,h resumed to-day, approved of the short amending bill introduced by the Premier last session, un(i withdrawn by request, pending consideration by the societies. An amendment to the Stamp Act. was suggested, in the direction of providing that eheq.ues drawn by the friendly societies may boused for general purposes without the imposition uf lhe duty. The conference said there was no need at present for the proposed Uoyal (VuuiuisMuu to inqjuire into mailers relating to I'Yiendly Societies generally, ami. to maUe societies and '1 hu Goverumi'ui eo-;operate in mvessary legislation. It was resolved to ivtjuest the Government to allow the free use of the mineral baths at the Government sanatorium tc- I'Yiendly Society members tveing treated there at the expense societ i*N,
