An Eccentric Irishman's Death

News has reached Belfast of the death in Paisley of Mr John M' Groary, the wealthy Irish-American who spent thirteen weeks in Donegal Workhouse recently, having been driven there in a coach and pair. While in the institution he used his silver breakfast and dinner sets, but left abruptly without paying. Having passed a period in Belfast he went to Paisley, where he received the g'uaa-dijans' account and forwarded a cheque promptly in settlement. Deceased amassed his wealth in America as a contractor. He was a native of Donegal, where his remains were removed for interment. Deceased had been resident in Paisley for several weeks before Ms death. Soon after arriving in Paisley from Donegal he became unwell, and was treated in the Alexandra Infirmary as a private patient. Leaving the infirmary he took up his residence in the Globe Hotel, where he was attended by a local medical practitioner and two trained nurses. During his residence in the hotel deceased, while very uncommunicative in some respects, spoke at times of having amassed considerable wealth as a contractor in America, and spoke of his house in the country and also of his establishment ill Donegal. He was extremely cautious, however, in speaking about money matters, although it was well known that a deposit receipt for a large sum of money nad been put aside to meet his expenses in the town. Thoug'h generally known as M'Uroary, deceased, in the death certificate, is registered as John Rodders, atfed 5-1. His remains were removed from Paisley to be interred in Donegul, and the arrangements were carried out by deceased's Donegal solicitor and a neohew named M'Gro'ury.
