4 ENCOURAGEMENT IN NEW ~ SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, April 18. Mr Sandford, of, the Lithgow Iron .works, has been asked by the State Government to make a contract to supply fifty thousand tons of manufactured iron, steel, and pig iron at prices based on an average for the various descriptions paid by the Government during tho last five years. If the terms aro accepted it will mean a contract for £300,000, spread over five years. Mr Sandford erects tho necessary plant and .undertakes to return to the Government any money accruing in the •event of a bonus on manufactured Sron being paid by the Federal Government.
