(Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, April 18. A young man 'named j m ,ies Dodd was drowned yesterday by the capsizing of a canoe in the Waikato river, at Can,|)ridge. It is supposed that endeavouring to avoid another canoe deceused ran his own on a rock in a place where the current was very swift and treacherous. Deceased was of a fine phvs104110.and a strong swimmer. Several persons witnessed the accident AUCKLAND, April IS. A married woman named Sarah fJnrtn'as, from KukaftJa'kapa, dfyd in the Auckland hospital to-duv while under chloroform for the removal of some stitches.
