Axemen's Association.

NEW ZEALAND TEAM FOR TVSMAMA. At a meeting of the New Zealand Axemen's Association at Eltham on Friday, the secretary, Mr F. E. Hardy, brought up the matter of sending representatives over to compete in tho next championship carnival to he held at Pevonport, Tasmania. After discussion, says the Argus, it was decided that the association would hold three test matches, with a view of sending representativws for the underhand and standing block championship, and one for the single-handed sawing championship, the following to be the conditions-.—Three test'matches to b,e held in Elthqm, Stratford and New Plymouth in about two months' time. The winner of most points in each style to be selected for that particular style. If sullicient money is raised to send three representatives. If. sufficient is not raised to send three representatives, J two shall be sent, the two competitors securing most points in all competitions to be chosen. Points to count 3 for first, 2 for second, and one for third. Minimum allowance, £ls per man. Representatives to have been ut.. least twelve months resident in New Zlenland ; and to leave this colony not later than August Ml, and to return and compete at the next championship carnival to be held at Eltham. In addition to those invited any person nmv compete in the tests upon payment of £1 for each style he may ' compete in, such fee to he returned to the coinpeti'tiir if he «tuali(ies as a represent alive. It was decided to invite the following axemen and sawyers to compete :

Underhand Chop.-Casev, Huttoii, Hei;g, (J. Volzke. C. O'Tiourke. Single-hand Sawing'—Casev C Volzke, C. Volzke, .1. Petlit', c\ 11 ll t ton. and I). McPhersou, and tepresentafives from the South Island who may enter through Mr A. Piurpe, Invercargill.

All events to be competed for in 2ft white pine blocks.
