Sly-Grog.
(Per Press Association.) ASHBI'KTON, April 18. Two more alleged sly-grog cases wore heard before the uiag)istrate today, and decisions were reserved. The remaining four cases will ba heard on Thursday next. April IT. After the adjournment of tho si}*grog cases on Saturday a large crowd waited for two hours outsido tho courthouse for the informers to come out. The police got tho informers out by a back way, and drove them to Ohcrtsey, twelve miles distant, to board the express for Christchurch. On this becoming known from forty to fifty men boarded tho train at Asbburton for Che.rt.sey, In- J tending to catch the informers there. The polite outwit ted the crowd, however, and got. tile informers—Hall, Hi they und ilemlerson—into tho guurd s van, which the mob surrounded, hooting and groaning. Ono window of the van was smashed with a stick or stone. Prosecutions are expected to follow.
