This would liavo proved enjoyable on a bright warm duy ; but thu ladies wore in too deadly earnest, despite the howling gule. As u cricket match it had many points, but spectators who feel a cold wind going clean through them soon tire of even Indies playing cricket, and those present welcomed the interlude lillcd by the Maoris, who gave poi dunces and tiakas. Then enmo a burlesque cricket mutch in which Lauri, Bantock, and others provided plenty of amusement. The Alaori Council of Araiteru presented an address to the Governor, expressing regret at his departure and wishing him farewell. .Mr 'J', I'urata, M. U.K., addressed the (iovernor, uivd asked him to tuku the love of the Maori people to King Kdwai-d. Air J'arata concluded by wishing liis Kxcelleney long life and prosperity. Lord liunl'uiiy suitably replied. About suo persons attended a farewell conversazione to Lord Hanlurly at the Garrison Hall this evening, when the Mayor, on behalf of the citizens presented his Excellency with a casket composed of New Zea.aml woods, containing' an album and illuminated address expressive of appreciation of Iris services to the i-olouy and regret at lvis departure. Sir Joseph Ward also spoke.iu eulogy ol the (iovernor's service. His Excellency replied thanking the People for their cordial good wishes and Jieurty sund-oJI.
