The competitions which are being held in connection with the military bazaar promise to be a great success. It is quite likely that the Uig'ht lion, the Premier will lie present to take part in the opening of the bazaar, in which lie is taking a great interest.

The fact that the Hon. H. J. S«ddon has recently been confined to his he'd owing to some liver complaint causes the Lyttelton Times to itmark thai the Premier should take bl-lter care of his health, that he should ease his burdens a little, and that he should seek more assistance. The attention of the postal authorities having 1 been drawn by .Mr liorton, of -Newton and liorton, solicitors, Oamaru, to the fact that, tile savings bank regulations hitherto in force with regard to interest conflicted with the statute law as contained in the i'ost Oliice and Interpretation Acts, the Department has in consequence decided to make the following alterations : "As from the Ist .April, whin tiiu first day of any mouth falls on a Sunday or post oflice holiday (such as New Year's Bay) deposits lodged on the 2nd of that month will h* credited with the full month's interest as if they had been lodged Oil the first."

A change is taking place in tho proprietorship of the Ellham-Opun-akc coach, Mr Duncan Campbell, of Uiverlea, having bought out Mr Jvidd'a interest, and with his brother will at once take charge.
