Valuable Land.
In tho city of London more than £3O 10s an inch, or 1000 guineas J per was paid for every piece of the land between King William statue and Trinity Square, E.C. The ground around Lombard-street is estimated to be worth not less than **>,ooo,ooo per acre. £1,2">0,000 was usked from the South-eastern Railway Company for a small piece of ground in Bermondsey. This piece of land was 16ft in depth, and contained an area of 4,134 supsrficial feet, so that the price asked was lat the rate of £13,000,000 an acre. In Cannon Square, in 1880, 600 square feet of land was sold for building sites for £4500, which amounts to £7 10s a sq,uare foot, or £33,000 an acre ; and the same year, in Grace Church street, building silos at £lB 18s a square foot, or £820,000 an acre. In 1886 th«ise prices were far e*6eeded, when 1285 square feet of land waß sold for £87,000, which is £2B 16s a tjt|uaro foot, or £1,260,000 an acre. In Liverpool the rental of the Corporation land in 1672 was £l3, whilst in 1802 this same land was valued at £l2, 500,000 an acre. In Glasgow plots of land have been sold for £76 los and £54 per square yard In the city of Chicago a plot of land was p*rchased for £l2O, and, after Itjeing held for twenty years, sold for £BOOO. It is now valued at £3, 800,000.— Property.
