41. Petit, Governor of Tahiti, while voyaging to France became seriously ill and left t.ktu steamer at Fromantle. lie died yesterday at thu Grosvener Hospital. Air W. 10. Spencer, the Education Board's chief inspector, was taken ill when visiting schools in the Moktiu district last week, and is still suffering from severe indisposition. Mr liulbei-t, who has been with Messrs Ainhury Pros, for some time, leaves for Hastings on Monday morning to enter into partnership in an old-established firm there. Mr Jlulborf has been closely connected with the Whileley Memorial Church and Sunday-school during his residence in New Plymouth, and his place will he hard to fill. A Sydney cable message yestorduy announced the death of Lady See wife of the Premier of New ' South Wales, Sir John See, who is at prosent in Auckland. The deceased lady had been ailing for months. She was conspicuous "anil much beloved lor her charitable acts, and widespread .sympathy ts felt for Sir John See and his family. Sir John See yesterday received a large number of telegrams expressing sympathy ,„ connection with the death of Lady See. These included messages from Sir Edmund ilarton.
