FOOTBALL.

THIO STAR CLCB. There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Star Football Club in the Town Hall last night. Air llockrill (President) occupied the chair. Air E. T. Ilellringer presented the annual report and balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of ,C2 2s. The report congratulated members on the performances of its teams lusl year, the senior team winning the Taranaki Cup and the Han . O'Brien shield, and the lirst juniors winning the Dan O'Brien junior shield. The senior team's record for the season, not having lost, a match, was referred to, and the fact, that the dab had placed in the Held more teams than any other Taranaki club. A recommendation was made to reduce the number of teams from live to four. Tile club was represented in the New Zealand and Taranaki teams, and the latter had been captained by Mr Allen, of the Stars. The sports and social had been very successful, liegrct was expressed at the deaths of Alessrs T. Carter, a brilliant, wanly and sportsmanlike footballer ; Air I*. 0, Carthew, a former President ; and Mr S. Humphries, one of the oldest pluving members. The Chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, commenting on the favourable results of last season. He urged members to maintain the high character attributed to the club by all who knew its members. He referred in feeling terms to the loss of Mr T. Carter, who had been a dashing young pi ay nr. Air liellringor placed before the meeting an oiler from Mr Taylor to train men in gymnastics and place a room GOft x 30ft at the Club's disposal. Thirty members were needed, at a cost of 4s per quarter.
