Thompson's store was totally destroyed by fire this morning. The loss M estimated at £IBOO. The building is insured for £4OO, apd the stock for £550 in the Imperial. The opposite buildings were scorched. There was no wind and a' serious conflagration! was averted. SAWMILL BURNED. AUCKLAND, Fob. 8. The Kami Timlier Company's mill at Whitianga was destroyed tiiy lire on Saturday. Tho latest, teli-Hlram stated that Hie company's store was in danger, and the mon were working hand io save It. The mill destroyed employed about DO hands. The fire was confined to the timber mill. The mill hands arod others saved the general .store, wharf, etc. The -damage is covered by mtiuraiTi- in the company's own fund. CHURCH CONGREGATION FIGHT A FIIIE. AUCKLAND, Feb. 8. A Tiro destroyed a house at Bay>lield, owned and occupied by Edward Owen. The insurances umount to £725. The fire occurred during church parson and congregation of the Wesleyan Church, next door, suspended service and rendered assistance.
