A BOOKMAKER'S APPEAL. TIMARU, Feb. 3. Mr Justice Denniston this afternoon heard the npix-al case by J. Loughlin v. E. R. Gulmiess". an appeal from the convicting of appellant, vljo is a bookmaker, '..y justices for wilful trespass on the Timaru racecourse at the last spring meeting. The appeal was in the nature of a i-p-'ti'Jal. Counsel for the apj)ellaiit contended that tile regulations making bookmakers trespassers were not properly made, and if they were tine notice given to Loughliii to leave the course was insullicient. His Honour reserved his derision.
