A Money-Lender Cheated.
The experiences of a new moneylender, as disclosed in the Mofjjuura® Court the other day, was interesting, «vd sbowod luow certain Civil servants welcomed him to business. Counsel, }vho appeared for the judgment creditor, said that the 18 persons before the Court were the first tljatch of Civil servants who had transacted business- with luis client since June last. Hisi client had not iwwiously cari'iud on this class of 'business. lie first lent monay to two or three Civil servants. Tlie 'news spread like wildfire that a man had arisen who would lend money to Civil servants, arad they ruslied biin. (IjuiiMhter.) He lent a:bout £3OO since June I'ast, and lie had only got £2 'back. (Laughter.) He lent money in good laith, 'but he never saw any more of lvi» borrowers. (Laughter.) He sent letters to them no 'good. Ho took out a summons—no t'fxul. He got a judgment against fhem-no good. They |»cko<( one one another's Mils g, H Wg money, and \y#nt near him 'alaain.
